The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens offers a flexible focal range and is the perfect companion for photographers looking to get up close to wildlife and capture the action. Canon’s STM technology enables smooth, quiet continuous focusing when shooting video and fast accurate AF when capturing stills. The lens is Canon’s first EF-S telephoto zoom lens to feature advanced STM technology, alongside a 3.5-stop optical Image Stabiliser, providing outstanding stills and movie quality throughout the entire zoom range.
Canon’s STM lenses
Canon’s new line of STM (stepping motor) lenses are specifically designed for shooting video with the camera’s Movie Servo AF mode. The first STM lens was released along with the Canon EOS 650D and has been designed to work with the AF system so that they’re fast, accurate and silent. The result is a movie that sounds professional without the sound of the noisy AF motor in the background.

Optical Image Stabilizer
To help maintain sharpness, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM incorporates Canon’s Image Stabilizer technology. This allows shutter speeds up to 3.5 stops slower than normal to be used while protecting against the effects of camera shake great in low light or when shooting at long zoom settings. Panning detection automatically turns off stabilisation in either the horizontal or vertical direction, helping convey a sense of speed when photographing moving subjects.
STM technology
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM features stepping motor (STM) technology for smooth, quiet continuous focusing when capturing video with your EOS and fast, accurate AF when shooting photos. STM focusing is so quiet that itäó»s not picked up by the cameraäó»s microphone, leaving your video soundtracks free of unwanted distractions.
Delivering superb image quality
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses a UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass element and Super Spectra lens coatings to deliver crisp, sharp, high-contrast images throughout the zoom range. A seven-bladed aperture diaphragm increases the quality of out-of-focus areas, so your subject stands out against a soft, blurred background.
Designed for great photography
A manual focus ring allows precise focus adjustments to be made quickly and easily at any time, while a closest focusing distance of 0.85m enables photography of small subjects. A non-rotating front element makes using filters straightforward.

Free Collection is available at our showroom in Hampton, please select this option at the payment stage at the checkout. Please allow one hour to pick and prepare your order for you so it is ready for you when you arrive. Collections must be made at our office during the hours of 9 am to 5:30 pm (Mon to Thurs) and 9 am to 5 pm (Friday).
Standard Delivery
Standard delivery costs £5.99 including VAT and will be sent out by Royal Mail or APC, this service can take 3-5 working days.
FREE UK Delivery On Orders Over £250
We offer FREE standard delivery on all orders over £250 Ex VAT to the UK mainland. Mon-Fri working days only. Saturday deliveries are not guaranteed.
Next Working Day Delivery
UK mainland orders placed before 2 pm will be dispatched the same day for next-day delivery. To qualify for next-day delivery orders must be placed before 2 pm Mon – Thur. Orders placed after 2 pm Thursday will be dispatched Friday for Monday delivery, excluding Bank Holidays. The charge for this service is £12.00 plus VAT. This service is only available for products that are in stock.
Saturday Delivery
Order before 2pm on Friday for Saturday deliveries. Saturday delivery cost £27.50 including VAT – this is only for the UK mainland.
