Panasonic BS1H Netflix Approved

The Panasonic LUMIX BS1H Box-Cinema Camera has officially been Netflix-approved.

The LUMIX BS1H is a versatile box-style camera combining the cinema-quality video performance of the LUMIX S1H into the easy-to-deploy box-style profile. It’s 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor (35.6 mm x 23.8mm) that captures 6K resolution and active resolution of 6,024 x 4,016 is what secured the Netflix stamp of approval. This means owners of the BS1H can now produce content up to Netflix standards.

The recommended capture settings on the the BS1H to be used on Netflix 4K originals are:

  • System Mode: MOV 4:2:2/ 10bit 4096×2160, OR 3840×2160
  • Log Encoding/ Colour Space: V-Log
  • All-I recording
  • Bitrate of 400Mbps

Netflix also note the ‘Rec Mode’ needs to be in ‘Creative Video Mode’, and for anamorphic productions, the settings need to be on Large Format 3:2 6K/24p/420/10-L, or Academy 4:3 4K-A/48p/420/10-L, 4K-A/30p/422/10-I, and 4K-A/24p/422/10-I.
